Formed in early 2007, A City Alive now calls the Midwest home. Taking influence from the hard working, honest people of central Wisconsin, they aim to capture the very breath of their surroundings, and feed it back through song...with a dose of hope. Fronted by regional favorite, Benjamin Picker, A City Alive believes that everything revolves around the shared experiences of life. "We've all been in different projects in the past," says Picker, "but this one is different, it has a purpose." This change of heart is clearly seen through the band's live show. Lead guitarist Mike Howard said, "To be able to use music as a tool to love and reach people is what we were created to do. It brings us so much joy." Concluding the line up is Picker's brother Jared on drums, long time friend Robbie Lee on electric guitar and vocals, and new comer Aaron Williams on the bass guitar.A City Alive effectively creates a unique sonic landscape that echos the ghosts of the past, and also paves the way for what is to come. Layers of guitars, driving rhythms, and lush orchestral arrangements have help define A City Alive in its pursuit to ignite the fire of hope in a world seeking change. A City Alive released their debut LP in 2009 drawing much attention and opportunity throughout the region. Playing with national acts Copeland, Superchick, We The Living, and BarlowGirl, and also working with producers Ben Kasica (Atlantic Records) and Nick Rad (Columbia Records), A City Alive has gained significant exposure and interest from key players in the industry. And now, with having their music commissioned and licensed for a nationally released film series, the band is preparing for the high profile that comes with it. "We are thrilled," said Robbie Lee, "every day is an adventure, and we can't wait to see what comes next." |
