To Whom It May Concern:

I am writing this letter of recommendation on behalf of the performance group Methods of Movement. Methods of Movement is performance group that delivers a great show that incorporates fun, energetic music with incredibly spectacular basketball tricks wrapped around a strong message of determination, perseverance, and setting high goals. The group performed at our school, Selvidge Middle School, near the end of our school year. This is one part of the school year our students will never forget. The performance was an inspiration to the students, which was eminent as their eyes never left the stage, and there was a buzz for days following the performance as the students were still in awe. Methods of Movements did a great job of making their performance interactive allowing students to come up and perform their own tricks along with giving the students a mini-lesson on some of their own moves. It had a uniting effect on our school as an experience the students could all share.

Methods of Movement is a must have inspiration for area schools to promote physical fitness along with exemplifying determination, perseverance, and reaching for goals. It is obvious that this is something that cannot be learned overnight, and it demonstrates how important it is to continue to practice if you want to succeed. The physical aspect of this performance is obvious watching trick after trick wondering “How did they do that?” And, while it looks difficult, I had multiple students pulling out basketballs for weeks following the show trying to practice new moves and show them to their friends. It is a great way to demonstrate that exercise is fun!

This is a contemporary performance that the whole school can enjoy—both staff and students. Additionally, the group’s focus and belief in education helps students connect success to working hard in both school and in personal endeavors. For days and weeks following the performance, I had students asking if Methods of Movement would be performing again the following year, and how they might be in contact with the group. It truly is an amazing talent and something that grabs students from all different backgrounds. It is unique educational element that will excite and motivate students from year to year. We will definitely welcome Methods of Movement to inspire us again and again!

Sincerely,

Jeanna Donovan
